The brand was nominated as a finalist for the 2022 World Changing Ideas Awards in category. In addition, the company has also received a Climate Pledge Badge, after a rigorous carbon footprint assessment, determining that each chocolate bar produced is 100% carbon neutral.
ABOUT SUPPLANT
Founded by Chef Thomas Keller and BioChemist Tom Simmons, the Supplant company came to fruition once Simmons discovered that there was a way to develop sugars all while compatting carbon emission. By using upcycled ingredients found in farm production, Simmons concluded that these fibers can be made into plant-based sugar. This new form of sugar can be used in place of refined sugars - creating a new category of food ingredient. Simmons sought the help of Michelin Star Chef Thomas Keller, owner of the famous restaurant The French Laundry, to further develop these sugars into a delicious smooth chocolate bar, that tastes as good as any store post brand, but is completely free of any refined ingredients. The duo is now on a mission to provide these chocolates to the consumer, hoping to eliminate refined sugars from our daily dietary habits all while lowering carbon emissions.
